So what is an online survey?
 

You may have seen those ads all over the internet  "Earn $250 or $1000 a day. filling in online surveys".  Can you really make that much money filling out surveys?  Can you sign up for a bunch of companies, answer some questions about your life and your purchasing preferences, and earn enough money to quit your day job, or even pay off some bills?  Well, more than likely.. NO!  The truth is that you will never be paid $1000 an hour for doing surveys, but earning $100 - $500 a month is possible for some.  The amount you can earn per month depends on several things.  How much time do you have to devote to filling in surveys?  What demographic are you in?  Companies search for certain demographics to take their surveys, and if you are what they're looking for on any particular survey and can actually qualify to take most of the surveys offered, your chances of making a good bit of money from them will increase dramatically.  Unfortunately, if you're like me, qualifying isn't always that easy.  You, on the other hand, may have more luck.  How many referrals do you have?  When it comes to things like paid surveys, paid to read emails, paid to try programs, etc, the cash is in the referrals.  You, filling in surveys by yourself and clicking email after email aren't likely to earn big dollars.  Add to your clicking and your form-filling efforts the efforts of a few other active people, all paying you for their efforts, and the money could really start to get interesting. 

 Typical payment for taking a survey is from.1.00 to $20 per online survey completed. Some industry specialized surveys worth up to $80 - $100.   For me, I don't think many of those sites that pay in points are worth the time, but there are a couple I do belong to, because the amount of points needed to reach  payout isn't all that high, or they offer some worthwhile stuff for their points.  Sweepstakes entries are a waste of time, in most cases, except in the case of places like  Greenfield Online, because you get a sweepstakes entry even if you don't qualify, so you can basically log in, purposely don't qualify and take your entry,.

If you are a U.S. citizen than you have the highest earning possibility. There are many that only accept USA citizens, but there is a list on this page that lists a whole bunch of sites open to other countries only.  The largest businesses usually order marketing research for U.S. markets only, so U.S. citizens are likely to receive the more frequent survey invitations than other citizens of other countries can.
